There are plenty of people that wake up and dread going to work. I can honestly say that during my 10 years in this business, I have never worked a day in my life.

I was born in Brooklyn, NY before my family moved to Las Vegas, NV when I was five years old. After high school, I was awarded a full-ride, academic scholarship to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Incidentally, my sportscasting career began during my senior year at UNLV. I was hired as the lead play-by-play announcer for Metro Sports, a local television company broadcasting high school games that aired on Cox Cable.

Upon graduation from college, I was hired as an update anchor at ESPN Radio in Las Vegas. During my time there, I did live sports updates, hosted a weekly game show and was the co-host of the Utah Jazz postgame show. At the same time, I was writing articles for Las Vegas Sports Magazine and the Las Vegas Review Journal.

In the summer of 2008, I accepted my first full-time position as news and sports director for a two-station cluster in Woodward, Oklahoma. In my four years in Northwest Oklahoma, I called more than 400 high school football, basketball and baseball games. I also hosted a one-hour sports talk show. I was eventually promoted to program director in 2010.

In June, 2012 I left Woodward to take a job as the program director and assistant sports director at Wright Wradio in Weatherford, Oklahoma. There, I called NCAA Division-II men’s and women’s basketball games for Southwestern Oklahoma State. I was also the color voice and postgame host for the Bulldog football broadcasts. In addition, I hosted a daily, two-hour, news and sports talk show.

After a year in Weatherford, I was offered the sports director position for a seven-station cluster in Garden City, Kansas. I became the lead voice for Garden City Junior College and the Dodge City Law arena-football team.

I consider myself very fortunate to be working in an industry that I love. Over the years I’ve been recognized several times by my peers, including Oklahoma small-market play-by-play broadcaster of the year, small-market newscaster of the year four times, third place in play-by-play for the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists, and I took second place for best sportscast in a medium market in Kansas.
